At the Classic Grand in November 2009 played by Stereophonics and this event ‘Autotrack and Guests,, which has been organised by a sixth year pupil at Bearsden Academy, is going to be just as exciting!

Bilge Morgan, the 17 year old said: “Places on this course are hard to get, it is highly competitive, so I needed to prove that I can organise an event like this.

“It will host four bands and one singer song writer and everyone involved comes from the local schools - Bearsden Academy, Douglas Academy and Boclair Academy.

“They will perform their own songs as well as covers and they are all very excited about taking part as this is a great opportunity to publicise themselves.

“I have even got them a VIP area in the venue, where they can invite some of their friends to ‘hang out’ with them, to make it more rock star!

“Having said that, there is a mixture of alternative and acoustic bands - in one band there is even a ukulele!

“The venue has a capacity for 500 people and I hope it will be a sell-out.”

To lose weight on a vodka diet had been tried by Ex-Stereophonics Star Stuart Cable and he died because of it.

In Aberdare, South Wales at his home he died last year in June after choking on his own vomit. A post-mortem said he was five times over the drink-drive limit.

She told the Metro Cable had been trying to lose weight ahead of a tour with his new band.

Cable was one of the original members of Stereophonics, but was sacked in 2003.

Spirits are so strong that people don't realise what they are doing to them.

I’ll bet she’ll never go again! But it will be good. We did Brazil yesterday (Friday) then we’ve got Peru and Chile coming up. And that will be the end of the world tour as we’ve been out for 15 months.”

Welsh band has a large, seven-album catalog pull out tracks from but perhaps the reality of the day job is a bit dull. He includes, “We change the set list as much as we can, to be honest. Tonight we’ll be bringing out all the big singles as we’ve only got 50 minutes, so there is no point in trying to go off there either, as we’ve never played here before. We keep it in trim by changing up songs we play, changing things to the set list and to make it as fresh for us and the audience as we can. If you did the same 20 songs every night, then you would go fucking insane. It’s also a good opportunity to be heard by people who wouldn’t normally know who we are to see us so we get to steal a few fans. Maybe we can steal a few Massive Attack fans!”

Stereophonies last album released in November 2009 Kelly says, “We’re having a good time and the band is in a good place. We all get on really well as mates, and we were all friends before we were in a band. On the next album we’re going to try to mix up music and film and try to do something completely different. It’s the touring that’s time consuming: it takes a year to go round the world, but creatively we’re still very excited about what we’re doing and want to keep going forward and try new things.”

B-sides Carrot Cake And Wine and Tie Me Up Tie Me Down are as good as anything they've written, and there's eight unreleased songs, including three from a Newcastle University show.

Stereophonics band to re visit their first two albums of special concerts. Stereophonics has arrived just as the flames of Britpop were dying down. Boys of Small town are writing about small town life, their possibility blast of material retains a marked innocence. 'Word Gets Around' and 'Performance And Cocktails' by fans are still much loved, with Stereophonics band return to their roots of unusual concerts.

The Welsh rockers their first two albums will play in full taking place on October 17th and 18th. One album per night, the band will rampage through early material alongside other tracks at the time.

The concerts come as the band mourn original drummer Stuart Cable. Stereophonics members played on both their opening albums but group the left after a fall out with Kelly Jones.

The two soon patched things up, and when Stuart Cable unhappily died kindly this summer the frontman gave an emotional eulogy at his funeral. Speaking about the forthcoming concerts, Kelly Jones said: “Since the first two albumsits over ten years were released. Listening back to them and all the b-sides and live tracks brought back a lot of memories."

"At Hammersmith Apollo to celebrate the albums will be playing two night every track and a selection of B-sides, in a live experience something we have never done. There's a lot to learn but it's gonna be rocking!”

Tragic STEREOPHONICS drummer STUART CABLE is raising money from beyond the grave his former bandmates are set to release a charity single in his honour.
The rocker was found dead at his home in Llwydcoed, Wales on 7 June (10). An investigation into the cause of his death is still ongoing.
Cable was sacked from Stereophonics in 2003 after a bust up with his bandmates, and went on to play drums with several other bands including Killing for Company and they are set to pay tribute by releasing a new song.
The band recorded Former Mining Town before Cable's death, and it will go on sale this weekend (24-25Jul10) with proceeds going to the Teenage Cancer Trust and a children's hospice in Cardiff, Wales.
In a statement, the band says, "To think Stu won't be on stage with us anymore is hard, but we hope to draw some positives from this difficult time."

The coffin, bearing the lightning flash logo of his Aussie rock heroes AC/DC was carried to the hearse as their heavy metal classic Back in Black was blasted out through loudspeakers.

Several hundred fans had lined the streets of Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taf, as four black horses pulled the glass carriage.

Band frontman Kelly said: "It's hard to walk out crying when they're playing Back in Black. This was a celebration of Stuart's life."

Stuart's mum Mabel, 79, wiped away tears as mourners sang Welsh hymns Calon Lan, Cwm Rhondda and the Welsh national anthem, while heartbroken girlfriend Rachel Jones, 30, hugged his relatives and friends outside St Elvan's Church.

The Outlaws and the Valley Commandos bikers, with whom Cable used to ride, formed his final escort.

Dad-of-one Stuart, 40, was found dead on June 7 at his home in the town after a heavy drinking session.

The 40 year old, of Aberdare, had been due to play Download 2010's Pepsi Max Stage on Saturday with new band Killing For Company. An album was scheduled for release to coincide with the festival gig.
Cable was a founder member of the Welsh five-piece in 1992, before being sacked by the band in 2003 for spending too much time on other projects.

The hits were well-worn favourites from Stereophonics’ solid, safe back catalogue; the misses from the current album Keep Calm and Carry On, by far the poorest performing of the band’s 13-year career. No prizes for guessing which the crowd had come to hear.

Yet the mightiest moments of the night belonged to a spate of new songs. I Got Your Number was stomping, grinding glam rock, accompanied by an explosion of strobes and striking visuals that turned the band into real-time, on-screen illustrations. Live ‘n’ Love was passionate power-rock, the fast, furious Trouble owed a debt to Led Zep, and the broody ballad Beer Bottle was intriguing electronica, during which Stereophonics were swathed in murky shadows. How demoralising it must have been for the band to see all those songs greeted by a sea of disappointed faces, or a few fists half-heartedly punching the air.

Not all the new songs worked so well. Stuck in a Rut recalled 1980s Bryan Adams; Uppercut could hardly have packed a fluffier punch; and the set opener Innocent — a single that failed to chart last year — was join-the-dots rock. It didn’t help that, after a decade of selling out venues this size, the singer Kelly Jones still struggles as a showman. His habit of curtly introducing tracks by their title and the name (and occasionally date) of the accompanying album made him sound like an efficient librarian.

Despite Jones’s lack of charisma, you wanted to hug him for trying so hard to break Stereophonics out of the soft rock rut in which their fans have left them stuck. Sadly, the fans won out with their ecstatic reaction to golden oldies such as Same Size Feet, Pick a Part That’s New, Maybe Tomorrow, Mr Writer and the woeful Have a Nice Day, a song now as tedious as its title. Only on the glorious closer Dakota did Stereophonics’ ambitions and the fans’ expectations collide. Commercial concerns will stand in their way, but Stereophonics shouldn’t stop trying to change.

"Carry On" to Stereophonics survives label chaos

Scoring a fifth successive U.K. No. 1 album should be a momentous occasion for any band, but in October 2007 the Welsh rock outfit Stereophonics wasn't able to savor the achievement for long.
Just as their sixth studio set, "Pull the Pin," topped the Official Charts Company (OCC) albums list, Stereophonics' label, V2, was integrated into Mercury Records following its acquisition by Universal Music Group. That left one of Britain's biggest contemporary rock bands effectively between labels.
Looking back, Stereophonics singer/songwriter Kelly Jones reckons the timing affected sales for "Pull the Pin." "Nobody was working the record," he recalls. "Mercury didn't want to step on V2's toes, and V2 staff were going, 'We're all being fired.' It was a s--t time."
Fast forward two years, and Jones says the quartet is "in a better place than it's ever been." His mood is fueled by the U.K. release of the band's new studio album, "Keep Calm & Carry On," November 16.
Mercury will release "Keep Calm" simultaneously in Japan and Australasia; the album will roll out internationally in February 2010, but an American release is yet to be confirmed.
The album's mix of contemplative ballads and fiery rock numbers pushes Jones' deep vocals to the fore. "I didn't want to make a guitar album with a big wall of sound," he says. "I just wanted to do something a lot more reflective and a bit more layered."
The act has sold more than 9 million albums worldwide, says its Los Angeles-based manager, Dan Garnett of Nettwerk.
Label upheaval notwithstanding, the OCC says "Pull the Pin" has sold 199,700 copies in the United Kingdom. But that doesn't compare to Stereophonics' 2001 best seller "Just Enough Education to Perform," with 1.8 million copies.
U.S. sales for "Just Enough" stand at 83,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan, but Jones says the band has learned to live with its failure to crack America. "We just never had that luck," he says. "It would be good to do, but we don't lie awake at night worrying about it."
The band does plan to keep busy with extensive touring. Garnett says the "Pull the Pin" world tour grossed more than $10 million in ticket sales. He anticipates similar results from the new campaign, including a March 2010 U.K. arena tour followed by Europe, Asia, Australia and three U.S. trips.
"We're a live band," Jones says. "That's where we get our kicks from a lot of the time -- we're all kind of gypsies at heart."

STEREOPHONICS frontman KELLY JONES is set to add filmmaker to his resume after actor SEAN PENN offered to help him launch a movie career.The Welsh rocker considered a career as a scriptwriter before finding fame with the Dakota hitmakers - and now he's set to realise his moviemaking dreams after impressing Penn with a project he's been developing. Jones says, "I was at L.A. airport when I saw Sean, who I'd once met at a U2 gig in London. So I went up, said hello and told him all about a story I'd come up with called The Drop, about an apprentice hangman in the 1940s, based on a book called The Hangman's Tale which I'd bought the rights to years ago. "Sean gave me his agent's number and that was that. But then, when I walked on to the plane, I realised he'd really been allocated the seat behind me. When we got off he waited for 20 minutes while I got my suitcase from the baggage carousel so I could give him a copy of the story."

Look, Stereophonics it's far too easy to be plain mean, but the title of the Welsh band's seventh album is an open goal. Taken from the currently popularised Second World War propaganda poster, the phrase reeks of ambition free, meat and potatoes, join-the-dots rock; they might just as well have called it Meh! or Shrug.
But enough negativity. It's no mystery what makes Stereophonics so popular: Kelly Jones's instantly recognisable Velcro rasp and his ability to write robust little rock songs with big hooks. What they lack in inspiration they make up for in perspiration and occasionally, as with the fantastic Dakota, they write a song so incontestably great it turns subjective critical opinion to dust.
Keep Calm and Carry On offers only a slight change in emphasis. The sound is leaner than before, featuring more electronics and fewer big guitars, and when it works it's pretty fine. She's Alright is engagingly stupid-simple, a propulsive and decidedly moreish opener that succeeds in pulling off the kind of louche, riff driven rock U2 attempted so disastrously with Get on Your Boots. There's a pleasing glam strain running through I Got Your Number, Trouble is a powerpop blast and the Motown thump of Innocent shows Jones once again obsessing over small-town nostalgia, the protagonists "holding hands, drinking cans in the orange light".
Much of the rest is solid, tidy and obvious, whether it's big ballad Could You be the One?, limper than weekm old lettuce, Uppercut, a poor man's Dakota, or Stuck in a Rut, a puffing bluesy rocker. In honour of their doughty, workmanlike album title, Stereophonics deserve doughty, workmanlike praise: they're a safe pair of hands, and this record does exactly what it promises. There are worse crimes.

Does anyone else remember the 2005 Stereophonics song ‘Dakota’? I recall Popjustice’s shock at the time when it realised it was the best thing released that special week in the UK, and as far as I’m concerned, it’s their best moment ever.

My night took a actually weird turn earlier this evening and I ended up in some exclusive bar with Stereophonics, Snow Patrol, and Jamie T (who is an absolute delight, by the way) after the Q Awards. Meeting the Welsh rockers reminded me of how much I loved ‘Dakota’ when it came out, and I hope you dig it too.

Stereophonics have announced of a new UK tour details set for March next year.
They group will play a string of arena dates beginning on 1 March in Newcastle.
They'll then visit Glasgow, Nottingham, Birmingham, Manchester, Sheffield and London.
Kelly Jones and his band celebrated the upcoming release of the band's seventh album Keep Calm And Carry On this past weekend with a 12,000 capacity gig at Cardiff Castle (3 October).

THE best way to look a band is on their home turf.
Seeing the STEREOPHONICS in their own manor in spectacular surroundings was even better.
And the band were on top form. New single Guiltness is a belter and the old hits in the set list got the 7,000-strong crowd singing along.
I shared a lift to the gig with KELLY JONES and he gave me a tour of his old stomping ground, including a pub where STEVE McFADDEN and ROSS KEMP former EastEnders Phil and Grant Mitchell saw the band before they had a record deal.
Where he bought me his showed his first guitar and joked about the High And Mighty clothes store where he got his threads as a kid.
Kelly said: "A local cafe we went on Friday and the bloke offered us his homemade lager. At another cafe the woman asked if we were famous. I said we were Artexers. She said, 'I thought you weren't'. It's good to be home."
The post gig tear up ended in the small hours.

The Welsh rockers are preparing for the release of next LP 'Keep Calm and Carry On' and despite having five chart-topping albums in their career, are refusing to take success for granted.
Singer Kelly Jones admitted: "I do feel nervous. It's a strange time in music at the minute. In that you can work actually hard on a project but it might not be the right song for that time and it goes away and then the whole project goes away.
"Young bands don't get time to develop any more. For established bands you have to come out with the best song you've ever written in a way to compete. This is what I've been doing since I was 12, I don't actually know how to do anything else."
Despite his concerns, Kelly says relations in the band have never been better and they wouldn't still be together if they weren't proud of their music.
He added to BBC Newsbeat: "The band's in a really good place, everybody in the band is happy. We're not just churning out c**p just to be around."

The concert at the Camden venue will be the group's only show in the capital this year and will see them play tracks from their seventh studio album Keep Calm And Carry On.

Formed in the small town of Cwmaman Stereophonics started life as a covers band before singer Kelly Jones began channelling his annoyance at small town life into his own rock driven material.
footaged up by V2 the band's debut album 'Word Gets Around' marked them out as a pair with huge potential. Commercial breakthrough 'Performance And Cocktails' was followed by physical strife, as drummer Stuart Cable departed.
However the band bounced back with the album 'You Gotta Go There To Come Back' and their epic single 'Dakota'. Achieving international success, Stereophonics are one of the longest bands in the country.

OASIS pulled out of headlining the Virgin Media V Festival in Chelmsford last night.

Frontman Liam Gallagher clearly peaked too early in Staffordshire on Saturday.
The 36 year old was ordered by his doctor to cancel after being diagnosed with viral laryngitis.
An Oasis spokesman said: “After a year of being on the road this is the first performance to be lost to a band member’s illness, so naturally we are all finish gutted.
“Liam is resting up and should be fine to resume the tour next Friday in Paris.”
The news that Snow Patrol would step in for the much loved Mancs did not go down well with fans.
Many of their fans would have preferred Noel, 42, to step up to the plate, possibly backed up with mates like Stereophonics pal Kelly Jones, 35, or Ocean Colour Scene’s Steve Craddock, 40.
Absolute Radio DJ Christian O’Connell, 35, who was due to interview Noel, made the views of thousands clear.
Spats
He said: “There’s been a lot of altercation around Oasis recently over the boys’ spats.
“This is only going to fuel those rumours.”
I told you last week how Liam admitted he had no idea what the future held for Oasis.
He revealed the scrapping between the siblings is so bad they no bigger travel together.
While there has been nothing officially to suggest a spat backstage in Staffs, pulling out of their V closer will do little to damp down rumours of trouble with the band.
V Festival director Bob Angus added: “The artists’ health must come first.
“But Oasis having to pull out is amply displease, especially after they had played such a galeing set at Stafford.”

This classic rock outfit focus is the golden age of rock with covers from bands such as Free, Judas Priest, Whitesnake, ZZ Top and their specialization Thin Lizzy, with the twin guitars of Barry and Derek Smith animateing that appropriate Lizzy sound.
Local favourites Not Guilty (pictured) will follow with guitarist Eric Woodhouse taking over vocal duties.
The band will accommodate an forcible set of classic pop and rock hits from Bruce Springsteen to Lynyrd Skynyrd , Bad Company to The Rolling Stones with something for all ages and all musical tastes.
Completing the line-up is Huggy Bear, a five piece band covering songs by contemporary artists such as Amy Winehouse, Katy Perry and Stereophonics as well as some classic floor filling oldies by Abba, Blondie and many more.

Former Stereophonics drummer Stuart Cable has written a book about his time in the Welsh group.The autobiography, entitled 'Demons And Cocktails', promises "to reveal the true personalities" of the people Cable worked with, as well as talking about his departure from the band.Cable was sacked from the group in September 2003, and has since presented radio shows and performed as Stone Gods' drummer.

Recently Stereophonics were involved in a police chase on Sunday (September 21), after the driver of their tour bus refused orders by Canadian border patrolmen to pull over.
After a two-mile chase, guards finally managed to get the bus to pull over at 4am local time.The band were then forced off the vehicle while it was searched.Ironically, the band later discovered they were only chased in the first place because their driver had been parked illegally."What a day. We got chased by the cops for two miles - for illegal parking," Singer Kelly Jones told The Sun.Jones added that he almost made matters worse by saying he was friends with notorious Welsh drugs smuggler Howard Marks."It was aggressive border control," he explained. "One of the guards started talking about a guy who used to smuggle drugs through bands’ equipment.

Stereophonics Carieer has been started from Cwmaman, Wales in 1992. Still they are performing too much not only in UK but also all over the world.
Stereophonics shaped in 1992 in Cwmaman, Wales and was originally known as “Tragic Love Company,” taking one word from each member’s favourite band (The Tragically Hip, Mother Love Bone, and Bad Company).

The band first contains Kelly Jones (vocals/guitar and songwriter), Richard Jones (bass), and Stuart Cable (drums). Cable was kicked by the other two members of the band in September 2003, and the band replaced him on the road with the former drummer for The Black Crowes, Steve Gorman.

After a decade’s worth of studio albums (5 number 1’s) the band scored its first number 1 single with Dakota, the 1st single of their fth album Language. Sex. Violence. Other?. The recording of this album demanded the include of a new drummer, Argentinian-Venezuelan Javier Weyler, formerly of Vitriol I.D.

Pull The Pin is the 6th studio album by Stereophonics, which was released in the UK on 15 October 2007. A Stereophonics newsletter launched the “Pull the Pin” album artwork to suscribers. The cover was also shown to MySpace users that had added the band in a bulletin.

The taster track “Bank Holiday Monday” had its world premier on Radio 1’s Chris Moyles Show on Tuesday 1 May 2007 and was made available for digital download on Monday 28 May 2007 from online retailers.

The band’s newsletter on 24 July 2007 announced details and artwork of the first ‘proper’ single to be released from the album. “It Means Nothing” was released in the UK on 24 September 2007.

Stereophonics are a Welsh rock band contains Kelly Jones, Richard Jones (no relation), Javier Weyler, and Adam Zindani. Since their debut album Word Gets Around which sharped at #6 in the album charts they have had five successive albums reach #1 in the UK. Described as 'classic UK rock with whiskey vocals' the band have enjoyed substantial achievement in the UK with 25 singles attainment the top 40 of the UK Singles chart. In 2005 their single Dakota became the band's major hit, reaching #1 on both the UK Singles chart and the UK Downloads chart and becoming the band's first liberate to chart in the US, reaching #34 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart. They have sold about 9 million records worldwide.
